Video: Leeds Rhinos & Bradford Bulls fans pay tribute to Geoff Burrow at Super League derby

Fans paid an emotional tribute to the late Geoff Burrow before Leeds Rhinos’ derby win against Bradford Bulls at Odsal.

Geoff, father of Leeds legend Rob Burrow, died last Monday following a period of illness. A lifelong Rhinos fan and trade unionist, he became a nationally-known campaigner for motor neurone disease causes after Rob was diagnosed with the illness in 2019 and continued to raise funds and awareness following his son’s death in June, 2024.

Supporters of both teams at the Good Friday game, along with the two sets of players and match officials, stood to pay their respects with a minute’s applause before kick-off. As well as being a fan of the sport, Geoff was project manager and sports officer and branch secretary at the GMB union’s sports section.

In their own tribute during the week, Rhinos said: “Leeds-born Geoff was a tireless campaigner for the MND community. A devoted husband, father and a grandfather, Geoff brought Rob to his first ever game at Headingley and started his love of the Rhinos.”
