Wakefield Trinity news: pre-season signing called up as 21-man squad named v Huddersfield Giants
Coach Daryl Powell has made one change to Wakefield Trinity’s initial squad for the visit of Huddersfield Giants on Sunday.
Jordan Williams comes into the squad in place of fellow forward Matty Storton, who didn’t play in last week’s 30-10 win at Hull FC. Williams joined Trinity in pre-season from Featherstone Rovers and has yet to play for them in Betfred Super League.
Trinity remain without several first-choice outside-backs, but coach Daryl Powell hopes most of their injury victims could be back in contention within the next four weeks.
He said: “Lachlan Walmsley will potentially play in the reserves on Monday night against Hull. He is not too far away, he has trained and done everything the last few days.

“Corey Hall and Oli Pratt are a few weeks away yet, but Jayden Myers is getting close. He may be a week or two away, but not too far and Thomas Doyle has been training as well. It is great to see him back out running.
“He has had a pretty tough spell with a few different injuries. Hopefully at some time in the not too distant future he will be available for us as well.”
Adam Swift returns to Giants’ squad, but former Wakefield winger Lee Kershaw has been recalled by parent club Hull KR and drops out. Zac Woolford is unavailable after failing a head injury assessment during last week’s defeat at St Helens and Joe Greenwood also makes way, with Archie Sykes and Connor Wrench coming into the 21.
Trinity’s squad is: Max Jowitt, Cameron Scott, Tom Johnstone, Jake Trueman, Mike McMeeken, Tyson Smoothy, Ky Rodwell, Seth Nikotemo, Jazz Tevaga, Jay Pitts, Caleb Hamlin-Uele, Caius Faatili, Harvey Smith, Isaiah Vagana, Jack Sinfield, Josh Rourke, Tray Lolesio, Jordan Williams, Kian McGann, Will Tate, Charlie Abraham.
Giants’ 21 is: Niall Evalds, Adam Swift, Jacob Gagai, Taane Milne, Tui Lolohea, Tristan Powell, Tom Burgess, Asher O’Donnell, Fenton Rogers, Matty English, George King, Kieran Rush, Mathieu Cozza, George Flanagan, Chris Patolo, Archie Sykes, Oliver Russell, Connor Wrench, Cole Geyer, Lewis Jagger, Zane Dunford.
