Wakefield Trinity v Castleford Tigers latest team news and 21-man squads
Both teams could have first-choice players back in action when Wakefield Trinity play host to Castleford Tigers this evening (Friday).
Full-back Max Jowitt has returned to Trinity’s squad in the only change to the 21 named ahead of the 26-12 win at Bradford Bulls eight days ago. Jowitt, who replaces Jordan Williams, played for the reserves last week and hasn’t featured in Betfred Super League since the home win against Huddersfield Giants on June 28.
Centre Corey Hall returned to last week’s initial group after five weeks out with a leg injury, but didn’t make the matchday 17. Coach Daryl Powell said: “There is a chance Max plays. Corey needs to pull up [from yesterday’s captain’s run] all right. If he is all right, then he’ll be around in the squad.
“There might potentially be a couple of changes, but nothing major. I think the team has been going pretty well and we haven’t picked up too much injury-wise.”

Tigers coach Ryan Carr will select from only 20 players after Joe Westerman, who didn’t play, dropped out from 21 named for last Sunday's 36-34 win against Leeds Rhinos. “We are a bit banged up,” Carr admitted aheaxd of today’s derby which will be refereed by Tom Grant and streamed via the Sky Sports+ red button and SuperLeague+. “We have got a reserves game on Saturday and we’ve had to call in a heap of people from other clubs to fulfil that fixture.”
Carr is hopeful star centre Krystian Mapapalangi will be available after two games off with a dead leg. “He’s getting better, getting healthier,” the coach stated. “He has done everything he possibly can, he has been on top of his recovery and rehab and we are hopeful. His chances are good, better than they have been.”
Forward Jordan Lane missed the win against Leeds with a hip injury and Carr added: “He is similar. They have both been trying really hard to play every week, it’s just making sure we do the right thing by them and the team and making sure if they do play, they can play to their potential.”

Of Westerman’s omission from Tigers’ squad, Carr said: “He picked up something in the background. There’s a few individuals who are working through some stuff in the background for us.”
