A Yorkshire Water spokesperson said: “We’re working as quickly as we can to reinstate the highway following the repair of a burst main. The closure and signed diversion will remain in place for the safety of our colleagues and those living and working in the area.

“The road will be open as soon as it is safe to do so once the reinstatement of the carriageway is complete. We appreciate that this may cause some disruption and would like to thank everyone for their patience whilst we carry out this important fix.”

Morris Lane remains open, operating as a single lane under two-way lights at the Church Street junction.
