Three Leeds city centre roads closed until 2027 for Templar Road buildings demolition and City Links scheme

Three roads have been closed in Leeds city centre until 2027 so that construction work can take place.

Due to construction works for the Leeds City Links scheme, road closures on Templar Place, Lydia Street and Templar Lane were put in place on Monday (November 3) until early 2027.

A spokesperson for Leeds City Council said: “This is to provide contractor site compounds and storage for materials during construction. Parking bays on these streets will be temporarily suspended during the works with alternative bays located on Lady Lane and nearby private car parks.

“A diversionary route for vehicles will be available via Edward Street, Lady Lane, and Bridge Street (one way).

“We have been working in partnership with a private company who have scheduled demolition works of buildings on Templar Place and have allocated space within our road closure for their works.

“We apologise for any disruption caused to journeys during this period."

The Leeds City Links scheme will begin at the start of 2026 and will see development carried out across the city centre to “increase opportunities for active travel”.

The work is split into two sections: The Northern Corridor, which will see the work carried out from Great George Street to Merrion Street and Woodhouse Lane. The work around Templar Place is also part of this section.

The Southern Corridor will see work carried out on Call Lane, Swinegate, Kirkgate and Wharf Lane.
