In Pictures: Kerr Mercer hits the Headrow House before supporting Lewis Capaldi at Roundhay Festival

Rising Scottish star Kerr Mercer brought old-school grit and plenty of self-deprecating wit to the official Roundhay Festival 2026 launch party in Leeds on Tuesday evening

The road to the highly anticipated Roundhay Festival 2026 officially kicked off in style last night, bringing a vibrant wave of summer energy directly into the heart of Leeds.

Hosting an exclusive launch event on June 9, organisers gathered the local music community to celebrate what promises to be a landmark weekend for the city's cultural scene.

Among the undeniable highlights of the night was an intimate showcase from breakout Scottish singer-songwriter Kerr Mercer, who gave attendees a stellar preview of his immense live talent.

Taking to the stage for a stripped-back performance, the rising star commanded the room with a brief but deeply impactful two-song set, including a powerful, raw rendition of his popular track 'Alcohol.'

He also won plenty of laughs from the room by showcasing a sharp, self-deprecating wit between numbers; powering through a gruelling travel schedule to make the Leeds date, Mercer candidly admitted to the crowd that he was operating with jet lag, before grinning and acknowledging his exact place on the star-studded summer line-up.

The musician kept the room thoroughly entertained by joking that he was well aware he was merely the "second most important Scottish person on the bill."

Kerr Mercer performs at Roundhay Festival on July 4, supporting Lewis Capaldi, and tickets for the day can be booked directly through the official Roundhay Festival Box Office.
