West End star Kerry Ellis hunting for rising Leeds talent to join her on stage at City Varieties
The musical theatre icon is bringing her 'Rock Anthems' tour to Leeds and wants a local young performer to share the spotlight with her
West End royalty Kerry Ellis is returning to Leeds this autumn - and she is looking for one talented local youngster to join her on stage for a once-in-a-lifetime performance.
The musical theatre icon, best known for her starring roles in Wicked and We Will Rock You, is bringing her brand-new Rock Anthems tour to the historic City Varieties Music Hall on October 29.
To celebrate the legendary rock artists who have shaped her career, including Queen, Meat Loaf, Bonnie Tyler, and Aerosmith, Kerry is inviting an aspiring young soloist to join her on stage for a special duet during the Leeds show.
For the second time, she has teamed up with performing arts organisation Perform Now to run the nationwide ‘Search for a Star’ campaign.
"I loved sharing the stage with rising stars on my Queen of the West End tour," Kerry said. "There were some very special moments, and the standard of talent was super high.
“When I was asked if I would do it again on my Rock Anthems tour, it was an easy ‘yes’."
The search is open to confident young soloists aged 11 to 19 who live within a 45-minute travel distance of City Varieties and are fully available on the performance date.
Perform Now, which creates training and industry opportunities for young people, will oversee the selection process.
