Leeds Civic Trust to leave Wharf Street base after 35 years for new accessible city centre home
After more than three decades on Wharf Street, local charity and civic champion Leeds Civic Trust is relocating to the ground floor of Church House on York Place to improve accessibility and accommodate its growing team
Leeds Civic Trust has announced on its social media channels that it is bidding farewell to its longstanding headquarters after 35 years as it prepares to move to a new, accessible home in the financial quarter.
The city heritage and planning charity is relocating from 17-19 Wharf Street to the ground floor of Church House at 17-19 York Place - coincidentally keeping the exact same street numbers to make the move as straightforward as possible for visitors.

While Wharf Street has played a key role in the organisation's history for over three decades, the Trust confirmed it has outgrown the current space, which also presents significant accessibility challenges for staff, volunteers, and visitors.
The move to York Place will provide a modern, step-free environment better equipped to support the charity’s expanding work across the city.
Commenting on the move, Leeds Civic Trust Director Martin Hamilton said: “Our base at Wharf Street has served us well for the last 35 years, and we leave with many happy memories.
"The move to the ground floor of Church House at York Place will provide us with a welcoming, accessible, and modern location for our work. It promises to be a well-designed space that will allow us to collaborate effectively with our friends and partners from across the city, as well as a great working environment for our dedicated staff and volunteers."
Further details on opening dates at the new York Place headquarters will be announced by the Trust in due course.
