Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith were faced with the hardest decision of series 16 when it came to picking the latest champion. Jasmine came into the final as the clear favourite and backed that up with her biggest victory yet.

The medical student came into the grand finale with a joint-record five Star Baker awards. Despite stumbling in the last technical challenge, she did enough overall to claim the win.

Bake Off winner delivers three word verdict on final

Viewers eagerly tuned in last night (November 4) to see who would take home the champion's plate in the Great British Bake Off this year. Some fans had joked they would be β€˜flabbergasted’ if Jasmine didn’t win, while others suggested she should have been given it the week before.

It ended up being a lot closer than you might have anticipated and Tom was made to rue a big error in his signature - mixing up citric acid for salt. Paul and Prue ultimately decided that Jasmine was the worthy winner and announced the result at a garden party with previous contestants and family members.

Taking to her Instagram page today (November 5), Jasmine delivered a three word verdict on her triumph. She simply wrote: β€œWe did it!”

The post included a number of photos with her holding the champion’s plate at a watch party for the final.

Fellow finalist Tom commented: β€œGOAT (Greatest of all time).” While the other runner-up Aaron added: β€œBake Off's Pristine POWERHOUSE.”

The current youngest ever Bake Off winner, 2020’s champion Peter Sewell also congratulated her. He wrote: β€œThe biggest congratulations Jasmine! You were incredible all series.”

Bake Off might be over, but Channel 4 has plenty of cosy TV to keep you company this autumn. The Game of Wool made its debut over the weekend - meet the cast.
