A much-loved reality show from the other side of the world has quietly landed on BBC iPlayer. The Beeb’s streaming platform is now home to a season of Australian Survivor.
It is also set to begin being broadcast tonight (November 27) on BBC Three. The first episode of the Aussie show’s ninth series will premiere this evening.
But what is Survivor Australia and which season is available? Here’s all you need to know:

If you are looking for something to scratch that Traitors itch as you wait for season four or want more jungle action in between episodes of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here then Australian Survivor has arrived just in time. In a surprise addition, the ninth series of the hit reality series became available on iPlayer today (November 27).
The show is also set to be broadcast on terrestrial TV on BBC Three from this evening. Episode 1 will debut on the channel at 10.15pm tonight, it has been confirmed.
Australian Survivor is part of the Survivor franchise - which started in Sweden in the late 1990s and has been a mainstay on US TV since 2000 and is nearing its 50th series. There was a brief version of it on British TV in the early 2000s and it was revived for one season in 2023.
Having also debuted in the early 2000s, Australian Survivor was revived in 2016 and has been a fixture down under ever since. The season airing on BBC Three and iPlayer is season nine which had the subtitle ‘Blood V Water’.
The BBC tease promises: “Stand together or stand alone. As pairs of loved ones are dropped on a desert island, who will outwit, outplay and outlast the rest and be crowned Sole Survivor?”
There are 24 episodes in total in the season and it was broadcast in Australia in early 2022.
Who hosts Australian Survivor?
Since its revival in 2016 through to 2025, the show has been hosted by Australian actor and TV personality Jonathan LaPaglia. His final season was Australian Survivor: Australia V The World, which aired between August and September.
He was one of the three hosts for the reboot of Top Gear Australia last year as well, which was broadcast on Paramount+.
