For those who have spent the last few years away from the dancefloor, the name D.O.D might not immediately ring a bell.

However, you’ve almost certainly heard D.O.D’s work, as the DJ is set to perform at the O2 Academy this weekend.

He is the force behind massive anthems like the BRIT-nominated ‘Somedays’ (with Sonny Fodera and Jazzy), which peaked at number five on the UK Official Top 40, and the platinum-selling ‘So Much In Love.’

If you missed him at the Warehouse Project or Creamfields, you likely heard his breakout 2021 hit ‘Still Sleepless,’ which spent 21 weeks on the UK charts and effectively rebooted his career for the post-pandemic era.

The Bury-born DJ and producer has spent the last decade evolving from a local hero in the Manchester club scene into a global powerhouse.

Originally discovered by Mixmag in 2010 as a prodigy on the decks, he has since racked up over 500 million streams and become a staple on the DJ Mag Top 100 list.

His signature sound, which he once described as future jack, has now matured into a high-energy, piano-heavy house style that feels equally at home on BBC Radio 1 as it does at Tomorrowland.

Unlike many "press play" DJs, D.O.D is famous for his complex, 4-CDJ setup. He acts as a brand ambassador for Pioneer DJ, often performing live edits and "scratches" that bridge the gap between old-school hip-hop technique and modern house music.

Here’s everything you may need to know before heading out to see him Saturday (January 31), including what not to bring in terms of bag policies, if tickets are still available, and what he could perform in the city.

What time do doors open at the O2 Academy Leeds for D.O.D?

With the show coming after another concert at the venue, doors for D.O.D are scheduled to open at around 11pm GMT (pending how quickly the crowd from Anarctic Monkeys leave the venue), with the last entries usually taking place at 2am.

Estimates also suggest that the show will conclude at 4am the following morning - don’t fear, you can always check the next bus or train home through either First Bus West Yorkshire or Trainline’s Journey Planner.

Who is supporting D.O.D during his Leeds performance?

Support for the show comes in the form of Hitty and Sahsa GiGi.

A powerhouse in the underground house scene, Hitty has built a massive following through his HITTY-X brand. Known for his high-tempo, percussive sets and raw energy, he is the perfect bridge between the early-night warm-up and D.O.D’s piano-house anthems.

One of the most talked-about new talents in the industry, Sasha GiGi has recently gained huge traction with releases on labels like Edible and Armada. Her style blends groovy house with a distinctively modern edge, making her a staple at Ibiza hotspots like Hï and Pacha.

What is the bag policy for O2 Academy Leeds (aka - what should I leave at home?)

Remember to bring a valid form of ID with you to the venue, as the O2 Academy Leeds does run a Challenge 25 policy.placeholder image

The general rule is that you should only bring a bag if it is necessary.

If it is, and to avoid being turned away at the door, ensure your bag meets these criteria:

  • Dimensions: It must be no larger than an A4 sheet of paper (approximately 21cm x 30cm x 8cm).
  • Style: Small handbags, crossbody bags, and "fanny packs" are generally fine as long as they stay within the size limit.
  • One Bag Limit: Each person is permitted only one small bag

Security will likely refuse entry to anyone carrying large items that could obstruct walkways or take up excessive space on a crowded dancefloor. Anything such as a large backpack, rucksack, tote, or holdall may cause issues upon entry.

Large laptops and electronics, professional cameras (unless authorised), glass and outside food and drink are also prohibited.

The O2 Academy Leeds also runs a strict Challenge 25 policy, and for a club-style event like D.O.D, this is non-negotiable. Even if you’ve already turned 18, security will likely ask for ID if you look under 25.

The venue primarily accepts a valid passport, a UK photocard driving licence (full or provisional), or a card bearing the PASS hologram, and generally does not accept photos of ID on your phone or digital versions.

Because this is an 18+ event, failing to produce a valid ID when challenged will result in being refused entry without a refund, even if you have a valid ticket

Are there tickets left to see D.O.D at the O2 Academy Leeds?

As of writing, there are still some reseller tickets available from Ticketmaster; however, act quickly to pick them up.

Not only because of the popularity of the concert, but Ticketmaster do shut off ticket sales on the day of shows.
