Political leaders, businesses, community organisers and campaigners are invited to gather in Leeds next week for a discussion on the climate and nature crisis and a free screening of a new documentary.
Organised by Climate Action Leeds, the event will take place in the Banquet Hall at Leeds Civic Hall on Friday June 19 and will feature a screening of The People's Emergency Briefing, a new documentary that stars broadcaster and environmental campaigner Chris Packham, alongside comedian Jennifer Saunders and entrepreneur Deborah Meaden.
The 45-minute documentary aims to provide a "clear, measured, non-partisan overview" of how climate and environmental pressures are increasingly affecting everyday life in Britain, and includes contributions from experts in climate science, food security, economics, health, national security and nature.

Following the screening, attendees will take part in facilitated roundtable discussions exploring practical responses and local solutions across sectors.
It will also highlight existing projects in Leeds and encouraging collaboration among public institutions, businesses and community groups.
The conversations will bring together public institutions, businesses, and community groups, to encourage collaboration while highlighting existing environmental projects in Leeds.

Anne-Lise Lancaster, lead organiser of the event from Climate Action Leeds, said: "The aim is to make Leeds one of the most informed, prepared and sustainable cities in the country, and we hope that the outcome will be ongoing collaboration across all sectors in our great city.
“The city of Leeds is 400 years old this year; let's make sure it can celebrate another 400 years and that we make our descendants proud."
The event will run from 1.30pm to 4.30pm, with refreshments provided and wheelchair access available throughout the venue.
Attendance is free but ticketed, and organisers ask that guests register in advance through the Climate Action Leeds website.
