By Car:

Motorists driving from Leeds are strongly advised to ignore satellite navigation systems and instead strictly follow the yellow directional event signs on approach. Drivers should head along the A61 or A658 toward Harrogate, then follow the designated ‘Brown Zone’ event signage.

To manage traffic volume, a temporary one-way system will be operational from 6.30am on show days. Wetherby Road (A661) will be one-way from the Kestrel Roundabout to the junction with Rudding Lane toward the showground.

This traffic flow will be reversed at 2pm between the Sainsbury’s traffic lights and the Kestrel Roundabout to assist vehicles leaving the site, remaining in place until 9pm.

By Bus:

Passengers looking to travel directly to the showground from West Yorkshire can use the Number 7 bus service operated by Transdev’s Harrogate Bus Company.

The service runs from Leeds and Wetherby every hour and passes directly by the showground entrance, removing the need to travel into Harrogate town centre first.

Commuters are advised to check live timetables on the Transdev Go app before setting off.

By train and shuttle bus:

For those choosing rail travel, Northern operates trains from Leeds Station to Harrogate Station every 30 minutes. From there, visitors can walk to the adjacent Harrogate Bus Station to board a free return shuttle to the showground.

Operated by the Harrogate Bus Company, these low-floor double-decker buses run daily from 7.20am to 7pm, departing every 10 minutes to drop visitors off at White Gate.

Please note there is no shuttle link from Hornbeam Park Station, though a pedestrian route is signposted via the Showground Greenway.

Do I need to pay for a parking pass if I am driving to The Great Yorkshire Show?

No. Car parking at the Great Yorkshire Showground is completely free of charge.

Organisers provide extensive on-site parking spaces within walking distance of the main gates.

What items are prohibited or banned from The Great Yorkshire Show?

While standard festival and event safety restrictions apply, the most important rule for families to note is that no dogs are allowed on the showground.

Although organisers emphasise their love for pets, the Great Yorkshire Show operates a strict "no dogs" policy for visitors, with exceptions made only for registered assistance dogs or animals officially competing in the show rings.

In line with strict stadium safety regulations to keep all circulation routes, gangways and emergency exits entirely unobstructed, pushchairs, buggies and prams are strictly prohibited inside the Grandstand.

Families can use them around the main showground. Still, they must be left at your own risk either on the dedicated grass area directly in front of the Grandstand (accessible via the far end of the structure) or outside the main entrance before you take your seats.

What should I take with me to The Great Yorkshire Show?

Visitors are encouraged to pack for a full day outdoors in changing British weather.

Sun cream, hats and reusable water bottles are highly recommended for hot afternoons, while sensible walking shoes are a must for navigating the sprawling 340-acre showground site.

If you are planning to bring a picnic, you are permitted to bring a reasonable quantity of alcohol onto the showground for personal consumption.

However, large commercial quantities are strictly banned, and no alcohol can be brought in glass bottles and stewards reserve the right to ask you to return excessive amounts to your vehicle.

I read about becoming a member - what are the benefits of joining the Yorkshire Agricultural Society?

The Yorkshire Agricultural Society (YAS) is a registered charity that supports regional food production, scientific innovation and farming families across the North of England all year round.

While public applications for membership typically cap out ahead of the event to control site capacity, joining the society unlocks several high-value perks for future shows:

  • Four-Day Access: Members receive free entry to the Great Yorkshire Show across all four days of the event (saving the cost of multiple daily tickets)
  • Exclusive Facilities: Members gain exclusive entry to the premium Members’ Pavilion and unreserved seating sections within the main Grandstand on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Travel and Show Discounts: Benefits include preferential on-site car parking, entry fee discounts for livestock competitors, and a 5% discount at Fodder—the society’s popular farm shop and café located on the Harrogate showground.
  • Society Extras: Members enjoy a 10% discount on official Great Yorkshire Tweed clothing, voting rights at the annual general meeting (AGM), and free quarterly YAS newsletters.

Members will need to bring their membership card to get in - no exceptions.

Is there a dress code for the hospitality area? Can I bring children?

Guests visiting the hospitality facilities are required to dress smartly. While there is no requirement to wear a tie, organisers strictly request that all visitors wear smart shoes rather than trainers.

Families planning their visit should note that, for the comfort of all guests, children under the age of 18 are not permitted inside the hospitality area.

Ticket holders are advised to make alternative arrangements for minors before entering or booking these facilities.

Are there tickets left for The Great Yorkshire Show 2026?

With the historic agricultural celebration starting tomorrow, ticket availability is now critically limited. Organisers have confirmed that tickets for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are completely sold out, with no admission available on the gate.

Because entry is strictly advanced tickets only, anyone planning to head to the showground later this week is strongly urged to book immediately via the official website to avoid missing out - as e-ticket sales close at 5pm today (July 13).
