Leeds to host first citywide coffee festival with more than 30 venues taking part

Leeds will host its first citywide coffee festival across more than 30 venues this September

This autumn, Leeds will transform into a citywide coffee festival as Slurpfest arrives from across the Pennines for the first time.

Following successful runs in Manchester, the speciality coffee celebration will take place across more than 30 venues in Leeds.

Working with Leeds-based North Star Coffee Roasters, along with fellow sponsors Oatly and Indie Coffee Guide, the one-day event will take place on September 26.

Coffee shops, neighbourhoods and venues across Leeds will be transformed into a celebration of independent coffee, showcasing the talent, creativity and community behind the city’s thriving coffee scene.

“Leeds has an amazing independent coffee scene and we want to celebrate the people who make it so special,” said North Star founder Holly Kragiopoulos.

“Slurpfest is about bringing the whole coffee community together and turning the entire city into one big festival. Best of all, so many of the events are completely free, making it super accessible for everyone to get involved and try something new.”

Starting on September 21, coffee lovers can embark on a citywide trail, visiting participating cafes and collecting stamps for a chance to win prizes.

The main festival will be marked by opening and closing parties, while the day will be packed with tastings, workshops, talks and much more at North Star’s Coffee Hub at Leeds Dock and across participating venues.

Tickets for individual events are expected to be released this month, with the full festival programme to be announced soon.
