Leeds Minster to host Christmas By Candlelight concert series
“Seeing these concerts become part of people’s celebrations is genuinely the most rewarding part of what we do”
It’s the festive concert series which blends world-class West End vocals and a sensational live band all framed by hundreds of flickering candles.
Christmas By Candlelight has firmly established itself as a must-experience night out.
The high-energy, feel-good festive celebration is packed with singalongs, dancing and show-stopping performances and has been a huge hit year-on-year, selling out across the UK since 2023.
Organisers today announced that Leeds Minster is among four Yorkshire venues to host 25 live performances in December 2026.
Ben Purkiss, who starred in the West End production of Bat Out of Hell, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be returning to Yorkshire & the Humber this Christmas and bringing a little West End magic with us.
“These shows are such a joy to perform, and the energy from the audience is unlike anything else. Year after year, the Christmas tour continues to sell out, and when you see the reaction from the crowd, it’s easy to understand why.
He added: “It’s become a festive tradition for so many people, ourselves included, and honestly, I think we enjoy it just as much as the audience does!”
Simon Gordon, director at Concerts By Candlelight said: “What started as a small idea has grown far beyond anything we ever imagined, and we never take that support for granted. We’re so grateful to everyone who returns each Christmas, brings family and friends along, and helps create such a special atmosphere at every show. Seeing these concerts become part of people’s celebrations is genuinely the most rewarding part of what we do.”
Singer Dan Conway said: “Yorkshire will always be home to me, so bringing the Christmas By Candlelight tour back to the region this December feels more exciting than ever. I grew up surrounded by people who love a good singalong and know how to make Christmas feel truly special, so these shows feel like the perfect fit. There’s such a warmth and togetherness in the audience at Christmas concerts, and as a performer, you really feel part of something magical. I’m so excited to share these songs, these moments and a little bit of festive West End sparkle with audiences back home!”
