Leeds White Rose Centre to host world record attempt for most high fives on ice skates

White Rose Shopping Centre is hosting a once-in-a-lifetime event on Wednesday, November 26: an attempt to set a world record for the most high fives in 30 seconds.

Joining the record-breaking skate are two members of the Leeds Knights ice hockey team. Liam Peyton and Balint Pakozdi will take on the role of speed skaters to give as many high fives as possible within the time allowed, as well as radio presenter Rich Williams hosting the occasion and keeping skaters’ energy up.

Guests are invited to skate for free to take part in the world record attempt at the White Rose ice rink from 5pm until 7pm with complementary tickets bookable online now.

Participants will receive suitably festive attire, as well as a participation certificate and rosettes for spot prizes.

The ice rink is accessible and suitable for all ages, with skate aids on offer, so everyone can take part in the event.

Steven Foster, Centre director at White Rose, said: “Our ice rink has been enormously popular in previous years, and for 2025 we wanted an extra-special celebration to mark its return. What better than our very own world record attempt?

“Together with the outstanding Leeds Knights, we stand a great chance at setting an unbeatable record, and we’re excited to invite guests to join us for an evening that might just go down in history.”

The world record for the most high fives in 30 seconds on ice skates is currently not listed by major record-keeping organizations like Guinness World Records.

The most high fives in one hour by an individual was 2,514 achieved by Vickrant Mahajan in 2016 but this was not on ice skates.

White Rose’s ice rink is opens from Thursday, November 20, with an early bird discount of 20 per cent off all tickets by booking before midnight on Wednesday, November 19. Families are invited to enjoy fun themed events, as well as regular Friday Disco Nights plus special Parent & Toddler and Quiet Sessions.
