Showcase Cinemas adds extra Lord of the Rings marathon dates due to huge demand
If you missed out on the chance to journey through Middle-earth last weekend, don't despair.
After a string of sell-out screenings left fans clamouring for more, Showcase Cinemas has officially announced it is bringing back its epic Lord of the Rings marathon for an encore in Leeds on January 24.
The nationwide cinema chain saw thousands of "Ring-ers" flood its screens last week for a gruelling, yet glorious, 12-hour cinematic pilgrimage.
The marathon offers the rare chance to see Peter Jackson’s legendary trilogy back-to-back, using a single ticket to travel from the peaceful hills of the Shire to the fires of Mount Doom.
Crucially for the purists, Showcase is screening the Extended Editions of the films.

These definitive versions of The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King feature additional scenes and deeper character development that weren't seen in the original theatrical runs—offering the ultimate experience for Tolkien fans.
The timing of the revival is no coincidence.
It has been 25 years since The Fellowship of the Ring first transformed the landscape of fantasy cinema. With a staggering 17 Academy Awards between them, the films remain a high-water mark for the genre, and their popularity hasn't waned.
"We were blown away by the response to the marathon event," says Jon Dixon, UK Marketing Director at Showcase Cinemas. "It’s clear The Lord of the Rings still holds a special place in people’s hearts. We’re thrilled to be adding extra opportunities for fans to experience the full trilogy how it’s meant to be seen."
How do I get tickets to Showcase’s Lord of the Rings Marathon?
To book tickets to the entire 12-hour marathon screening, you can order them directly from the Showcase Cinemas website.
However, for those who can’t commit to the full 12-hour stint in one go, the cinema is also offering individual screenings of the extended films on selected dates throughout the rest of the month.
Tickets for the Saturday encore are expected to sell out as quickly as the first batch, so fans are advised to "fly, you fools" to the booking page before they’re gone.
