Why is Love Island: All Stars not on TV today? ITV delay explained amid South African wildfires

ITV has delayed the start of Love Island: All Stars due to wildfires 🚨🚨

  • Love Island: All Stars will not start as planned tonight (January 12).
  • The reality series has been disrupted by adverse weather.
  • But what will be on TV in its place on ITV2 this evening?

A reality series has been forced to delay its highly anticipated launch, due to wildfires.

Love Island: All Stars was due to broadcast its live launch tonight (January 12) but fans will have to wait a bit longer. The cast was revealed by ITV last week and includes plenty of familiar faces.

Maya Jama was set to welcome the returning islanders to the winter villa in South Africa this evening, but adverse weather has caused the production to be evacuated. Here’s all you need to know:

First launched back in early 2024, the reality show spin-off sees old favourites return for another shot at finding love. Unlike the regular summer series, Love Island: All Stars is filmed in South Africa - just like the previous winter editions pre-pandemic.

The third series had been due to begin tonight (January 12) and would have kicked-off weeks of shock couplings, surprise returns, and plenty of drama to banish those winter blues. However, on-going wildfires in South Africa have disrupted the start of the series.

Announcing the delay, an ITV spokesperson said: “Further to a production evacuation owing to ongoing wildfires in the area, our assessment of the location site has concluded that filming will need to be postponed. Health and safety is our greatest priority and will always come first, and therefore the transmission of Love Island: All Stars will be delayed until a date to be confirmed.”

The broadcaster has yet to confirm when the show will return. ITV2 will instead air a repeat of last year’s anniversary special Love Island: A Decade of Love.

It will start at 9pm and run for over 90 minutes. The repeat is due to finish at around 10.35pm.
