Welcome in 2026 by watching a spectacular fireworks display! 🎇🚨

  • It is almost time to wave goodbye to 2025.
  • Fireworks displays will help to welcome in 2026.
  • But can you watch them at home?

After plenty of ups and downs, it is almost time to consign 2025 to the history books. It might seem like only yesterday that we stepped through the threshold to kick-off the year, but it is now over.

The festive season is drawing to an end and January is now only a few hours away. Across the world, people will be celebrating the start of 2026 with spectacular fireworks displays.

It includes, of course, the huge display in our very own capital city - London. Weather permitting, the eye-catching show will help to welcome in the 26th year of this century.

But if you don’t live in London, you might be wondering if you can watch the action at home? Here’s all you need to know:

Once again, the annual display on the River Thames will be televised, for those of us who don’t live locally. The BBC will have coverage - although it can also be watched on news channels such as Sky.

BBC One will take a break from Ronan Keating and Friends just before midnight tonight (December 31) to show the fireworks. It will continue through to around 12.15am on January 1.

Due to differences in time zones, places like Australia and New Zealand will celebrate the start of 2026 before we do here in the UK. If you are watching BBC News and Sky News throughout today (December 31), you can also get glimpses of their own displays.

If you can’t watch the New Year’s Eve Fireworks live, depending on your plans to welcome in the New Year, don’t worry, they will be available on demand via BBC iPlayer. Simply search fireworks on the app and it should come up.

The previous display is also available to watch, if you fancy even more fireworks!
