Northern Lights Leeds unveils new 'Lost Light of Christmas' map and preview for Temple Newsam return
Northern Lights Leeds has revealed the official map and first glimpse of its completely reimagined 2026 light trail, transforming the grounds of Temple Newsam into an immersive fairy-tale adventure this winter
Running from November 20 to December 31, The Lost Light of Christmas marks a major creative redesign for the festive event, which attracts over 100,000 visitors to East Leeds annually.
Produced by event team From The Fields, this winter’s trail shifts to an interactive, narrative-led concept guiding guests through enchanted woodland, glowing pathways, and shimmering lagoons on a quest to help fairies save Christmas.
Spanning approximately one mile, the trail features over a dozen bespoke installations created by top UK light artists, complete with special effects and custom soundscapes.
Early highlights revealed include The Faerie Way - a path formed by thousands of micro-lights - and Whisper and Wish, an interactive installation by Ithaca Creative Sound & Light Art featuring 12 voice-activated trees that respond to whispered festive wishes with changing light and audio patterns.

Beside the trail, the returning Christmas Village will feature a selection of Yorkshire artisan street food vendors, festive bars serving mulled wine and craft drinks, vintage fairground rides, and marshmallow-toasting fire pits.
"We’re so excited to give you a first glimpse of our all-new immersive narrative experience," says Helen Wells, Senior Creative Producer. "After two amazing years at Temple Newsam, we’re proud to be bringing a light trail unlike anything we’ve ever done before.
We cannot wait to welcome visitors back this winter and share the rest of our special festive tale."
Tickets start from £13.50 for children and £19.50 for adults, available now via the official Northern Lights Leeds website.
