Scream under the stars: Outdoor Halloween cinema returns to Harewood House next week
Adventure Cinema brings a giant open-air screen to the historic Leeds estate next week for a three-night line-up of cult classics, family favourites, and 90s horror
Film fans can experience classic horror and family favourites under the stars this autumn as outdoor cinema returns to the grounds of Harewood House.
Pop-up specialists Adventure Cinema will host three open-air screenings against the backdrop of the historic Leeds estate from October 23 to 26, with a line-up featuring an 80s classic, a family favourite and a genre-redefining 90s thriller.
Rather than a standard indoor cinema, the event leans heavily into the seasonal atmosphere. As dusk falls over the sweeping estate, the grand façade of Harewood House provides a dramatic, shadowy backdrop for an evening under the autumn sky.
Before the main feature begins, moviegoers can settle in with a curated soundtrack of spooky classics and seasonal anthems playing across the grounds.
Guests are encouraged to wrap up warm in coats and thermals, bring camping chairs, and huddle under thick blankets as the temperature drops.
Hot street food stalls, warm cider, hot chocolate, and fully licensed bar refreshments will be running on-site throughout each evening, keeping the autumn chill at bay while the screen lights up against the dark.
What is screening at Harewood House for Halloween Outdoor Cinema 2026?

The weekend kicks off on Friday, with Joel Schumacher’s 1987 cult comedy-horror The Lost Boys (15).
Following two brothers who move to a seaside California town only to discover it is a haven for a stylish vampire gang, the film pairs an iconic 80s soundtrack with dark humour, sharp quips, and classic creature-feature atmosphere.
On Saturday, the lawn turns over to family-friendly magic with the Hocus Pocus Spooktacular (PG).
Disney’s beloved 1993 classic sees Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as the resurrected Sanderson Sisters terrorising Salem on Halloween night. Fancy dress is strongly encouraged for this evening, with a curated playlist of spooky anthems and seasonal hits building the mood before sundown.
Closing out the weekend on Sunday is Wes Craven's genre-redefining 1996 slasher Scream (18).
Bringing Ghostface to the stately home grounds, the film subverts classic horror tropes with sharp self-awareness, dark wit, and genuine tension as a Woodsboro high school student becomes the target of a mysterious masked killer.
Across all three nights, gates open at 6pm to give moviegoers plenty of time to explore the street food stalls, grab warm drinks from the bar, and set up their chairs on the lawn.
Screenings begin at dusk, at approximately 7.30pm as light fades across the estate.
Where can I get tickets to Harewood House’s Halloween Outdoor Cinema 2026?
Tickets for the three-night run are on sale now and can be purchased directly through the official Adventure Cinema website as well as the Harewood House online box office.
Booking is strongly recommended, as capacity on the lawn is capped each evening and peak weekend dates often sell out in advance.
Standard admission tickets allow guests to bring their own camping chairs, picnic blankets, and warm layers to set up on the grass.
Those looking for extra comfort can opt for premium tickets, which include a reserved luxury deckchair situated in a prime central viewing position on the lawn. Higher-tier Director's View packages are also available, bundling a luxury deckchair with a treat bag and a cosy blanket for the evening.
Discounted child tickets are available for younger film fans attending the Saturday screening.
As a bonus, any evening cinema ticket holder can purchase a discounted five-pound grounds upgrade at the visitor reception on the day of the event, giving early access to explore Harewood’s famous gardens and house grounds before event gates officially open at 6pm.
