Performance delivers the Greatest Day to audiences in Wakefield

Theatre Royal Wakefield celebrates Youth Musical for 2026 – with the smash hit show The Band, featuring the music of Take That, taking to the stage from Wednesday 19 – Saturday 29 August.

Following the huge success of previous youth theatre productions, including Guys and Dolls and Evita, The Band follows four women who were best friends as teenagers in the 1990s and remain big fans of the band.

Fast forward 25 years, after losing contact, the four of them reunite to finally fulfil their dream of seeing The Brand perform.

Senior Communications and Programming Manager at Theatre Royal Wakefield, Emma Proctor, comments: “The Band is a fantastic musical that captures the cast as they sing through their highs and lows.

“Taking the audience from Manchester to Prague and featuring greatest hits including Relight My Fire and Pray – it’s great fun and an amazing opportunity for our incredibly talented youth theatre to shine.

“This isn’t just a performance, it’s a chance to bring family and friends together to laugh, sing and perhaps even shed a tear or two. We can’t wait for the curtains to go up!”

The Band will be directed and choreographed by Louise Denison with musical direction by Jim Lunt. Tickets for The Band are available now, with shows taking place between 19th – 29th August 2026.
