Stranger Things season 5 cast: which actors are not coming back for season 5?
Stranger Things will be missing some familiar faces in season 5 😭📺
- Stranger Things will kick-off its final season this week.
- The first four episodes are set to be released.
- But which actors will not be back in series 5?
After almost a decade, Netflix’s mega-blockbuster Stranger Things is preparing to come to an end. The beloved science-fiction series will start its final season this week.
Eleven, Mike, Will, and the gang are set to battle the evil Vecna for the fate of Hawkins, Indiana and the world at large. Arriving more than three years after series four, the show will kick-off its final run of episodes on Thursday (November 27) in the UK.
It is set to dominate the festive period with some very seasonal release dates. But which familiar faces will not return?
When does Stranger Things season 5 come out?
The show will split its final run of eight episodes out across three different release dates. It all begins this week and will wrap up on New Year’s Eve in America and New Year’s Day 2026 in the UK.
The release dates for series five are as follows:
- Volume 1 - November 26 (US)/ November 27 (UK) - episodes 1 - 4
- Volume 2 - December 25 (US)/ December 26 (UK) - episodes 5 - 7
- Finale - December 31 (US)/ January 1 (UK) - episode 8
Which actors are not returning for Stranger Things season 5?
All of your favourites from the main cast will be back - including Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, and David Harbour. There will also be some new additions including legendary actor Linda Hamilton.
However, a few familiar faces will not be back - for a variety of reasons. Among the actors not returning includes:
- Eduardo Franco - Argyle
- Joseph Quinn - Eddie Munson
- Mason Dye - Jason Carver
- Myles Truitt - Patrick McKinney
- Tristan Spohn as Two / 002
- Christian Ganiere as Ten / 010
- Tinsley and Anniston Price - Holly Wheeler
A casting call was put out previously for Jim Hopper’s late daughter Sara. She was portrayed by Elle Graham in season one - but obviously that was nearly a decade ago.
Holly Wheeler will return but instead of being played by twins Tinsley and Anniston Price, she is now portrayed by Nell Fisher.
There are a few unknowns including Tom Wlaschiha as Dmitri Antonov - who did not die in season four, but has not been confirmed for series five. Will ‘Enzo’ make a welcome return?
Another is Nikola Đuričko as Yuri Ismaylov. Guess that depends on if the Russian storyline is completely done with.
Despite fans hope that fan favourite Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) could appear in season five - perhaps in the form of flashbacks, similar to how Billy (Dacre Montgomery) did - that appears to have been kiboshed by the Duffer Brothers. The show creators confirmed he will not appear adding ‘he’s fully under that ground’, Reelsbox reports.
The cast have offered up some tantalising teases for what to expect in season five. See what the Stranger Things actors had to say here.
