The countdown is on and the final season of Stranger Things is almost about to begin. It is set to be a huge end to the year for the Netflix smash hit series.
Will, Mike, Eleven, and the gang are set to return for one final battle with Vecna and the forces of the Upside Down. The first volume is due to release in just over a two weeks time, it has been confirmed.
The final season is set to be split into three parts - with some very exciting release dates! But fans might be wondering how long episodes will run for!
When does the first part of Stranger Things 5 release?

Netflix will be spreading out the final season of its blockbuster series throughout the festive period. The episodes are split out across three different release dates, including a very Christmassy one!
The release schedule for Stranger Things 5 is as follows, Netflix has confirmed:
- November 26 (US)/ 27 (UK) - episodes 1 - 4 - Part 1
- December 25 (US)/ 26 (UK) - episodes 5 - 7 - Part 2
- December 31 (US)/ January 1 (UK) - episode 8 - Part 3
Due to the release time and difference in time zones, the episodes come out a day later in the UK and Europe. Episodes come out at 8pm ET in America, which is 1am British time.
What are the episode lengths in season 5?
Over the years, Stranger Things has become almost as synonymous with long episodes as it is with lengthy gaps between seasons. It has been more than three years since season four was released on Netflix back in the summer of 2022.
The season three finale had a run-time of one hour 18 minutes, which was the first episode to run for more than an hour. In season four, the run-times increased dramatically with the shortest being one hour and five minutes, while the longest was almost two and a half hours.
In a post on Instagram last month, co-showrunner Ross Duffer teased the run-times for the first volume of episodes. It is set to continue the trend of longer episodes, except in one case.
The run-times in part one of season five will look like:
- Chapter One: The Crawl – 1 hour and 8 minutes
- Chapter Two: The Vanishing of____ – 54 minutes
- Chapter Three: The Turnbow Trap – 1 hour and 6 minutes
- Chapter Four: Sorcerer – 1 hour and 23 minutes
The second episode is set to be the shortest since series three, being the first not to pass one hour in quite some time. However, Forbes reports that episodes 4 through 8 will be the longest of the season, according to the Duffer Brothers.
