Superheroes, Star Wars, Wicked, Paddington and Transformers to invade Wakefield
Legends of the big screen will descend on Trinity Walk in Wakefield for a massive free, two-day cosplay event for charity.
Movie stars, cars and props will invade Trinity Walk on Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10, when visitors can catch cosplay Deadpool and Batman rubbing shoulders with Elphaba and Mando (with Grogu in tow) while Chewie meets Bluey and Bumblebee meets Barbie.
A host of fan-made cars and props will be on display including the UK’s first appearance of a Running Man armoured van, plus Optimus Prime truck, Mystery Machine, Batmobile, Turtles’ van, Bumblebee Camaro, Lightning, The King, Jurassic Park jeep and USA cop cars.
Photo opportunity props include Paddington’s bench, sit-on speeder inspired by Star Wars, Game of Thrones throne, Obi-Wan’s fan-made starfighter and giant toy boxes.

There will also be movie-themed, free face painting with Donna and other freebies during the Saturday and Sunday, where donations are gratefully received for West Yorkshire’s Forget Me Not children’s hospice.
Visitors are encouraged to donate cash either in buckets or via £2 contactless stations located around Trinity Walk, which is home to more than 75 brands.
The line-up also includes Mando 2Hire – the UK’s only Mandalorian and Grogu tribute act with the real voice and fully operational speeder bike.
Other characters hoping to attend include Star Wars costume groups UK Garrison (Saturday) and Mos Eisley Misfits (Sunday), Spider-man, Batgirl, Starlord, Captain America, Optimus Prime, Iron Man Hulkbuster, Sonic, Harley Quinn, Stitch, Elsa, Anna, The Punisher, Ghostbusters and Panda Mami’s giant mascot.
Lucy Grice, Trinity Walk’s Marketing Manager, said: “We always try to stay fresh with Star Walk, introducing new things each time while keeping the acts and props people love to see and interact with.
"So a huge thank you to all our performers, props and cars – amazing people who give up their time to go the extra mile to help make some really memorable experiences here.”
Cars and props are out from 10am, with characters out from 11am.
The event ends 4pm both days.
Organisers have reminded visitors that because it’s a live event, all times are just for guidance and characters are subject to change.
