The Godfather of House heading to Dewsbury
The Godfather of House is heading to a Leeds town in September in a mission to establish the area's profile in dance music.
Marshall Jefferson is credited with being one of the original innovators of the Chicago House sound in the 1990s that has inspired DJs ever since.

Marshall will be playing to a crowd of just 100 people at The Terrace Dewsbury on September 18.

This is regarded as a coup for the venue, even considering the big names in dance music who have already played the venue, including Utah Saints, K-Klass, Allister Whitehead, Dave Beer, Jeremy Healy, and Greg Wilson.
Sarah Barnes, MD of Beerhouses which runs The Terrace, explains why she was so keen to bring Marshall Jefferson to Dewsbury:
She said: “You cannot overstate the impact that Marshall Jefferson has had on dance music, so when I started our mission to establish The Terrace as a dance music destination, I always knew that we’d want him to perform here at some point.
"We have worked really hard to build our reputation with the amazing artists we’ve hosted here over the last few years and without this, we could never have hoped to attract someone as pivotal to this genre as Marshall. We really can’t wait!”

Sarah’s vision for The Terrace, and its goal to revitalise Dewsbury, was recently covered in a Yorkshire Post feature that talked about the big name stars it’s bringing in as well as supporting grassroots music and creating opportunities in music for young people.
The evening on September 18 will see a full line up of DJs with Terrace residents Paul Birbeck, Steve Kirk, and Matthaus supporting Marshall’s headline set.
Pre-sale tickets, available exclusively to The Terrace’s Hush Secret Nightclub community, saw two thirds of the available 100 tickets sold in a week.
Now on general sale, they continue to sell quickly so anyone who wishes to see one of the most significant DJs in dance music history, are advised to get theirs while they can. Tickets are available while they last from Skiddle.
