First look at revamped play area after £99k transformation - including toddler adventure unit
The layout has been transformed
A play area has reopened after a £99,000 revamp by Wakefield Council, with a mix of new equipment, updated features and improved layout aimed at a wider range of children and families.
Among the additions at Ossett's Church Street playground are an in-ground trampoline, a group swing and a bespoke shop roleplay game.

The site also now includes a double slide, a toddler adventure unit, a wheelchair accessible roundabout, a basket swing, a spinning seesaw and a colourful butterfly game station.
Some of the existing play equipment has been refurbished, including the climbing net and junior multi-play unit. The council has also added a multigenerational group swing, alongside new benches for parents and carers.
The layout has been designed to make it easier to move around the site and use different types of play equipment.
Coun Julian Carter, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood Services, said: “It’s great to see the improvements at the Church Street play area now complete.
"The new equipment and layout mean there is something for all children to enjoy, while making the space more welcoming and accessible.
"We hope it will be loved by local families for many years to come.”
The work forms part of Wakefield Council's wider programme to provide play spaces for children and families across the district.
