'We haven't done this since 2019': Watch the moment Mel B joins Melanie C on stage during Leeds show
‘I wouldn’t be where I am today without this woman’
There was a Spice Girls reunion in Leeds last night as Mel B joined Melanie C on stage to cheers from fans.
Sporty Spice was performing at Project House to promote her new album, Sweat, which was released on Friday.
Ahead of the show, she held a meet-and-greet at Crash Records, with excited fans queuing down The Headrow to get the chance to meet the star.
And gig-goers had a surprise appearance from Leeds’ own Mel B during the show at Project House. Mel B turned up to watch the gig, and was invited onto the stage to perform Spice Up Your Life.
During the show, Melanie C said: “Now, the next song feels wrong to sing without an unnamed woman in the crowd. And it feels wrong to do this without her.... I wouldn’t be where I am today without this woman.”
It was the first time the pair had performed together since 2019, Melanie C added.
Before she found international fame with the Spice Girls, Melanie C was swept up in the UK’s burgeoning 90s rave scene - partying to the sounds of Prodigy and Grooverider.
Her new solo album is billed as a love letter to her formative days - “an invitation to party, to find community on the dance floor and joy in a dark world”.
Recorded between London, Stockholm and Sydney, Sweat fuses her past and present - the sport and thespice, the forgotten teenage raver and the accomplished DJ.
