It was a day a west Leeds village celebrated its links with an iconic car brand. Farsley welcomed home Aston Martin cars and their owners this weekend. Early Aston Martin cars were built in the village at the Newlands Works between 1953 to 1956. The car manufacturer became associated with expensive grand touring cars in the 1950s and 1960s, and with the fictional character James Bond following his use of a DB5 model in the 1964 film Goldfinger. Hundreds of villagers turned out yesterday ( September 6) to enjoy a parade of Aston Martin cars down Town Street before a rally at Sunny Bank Mills. And your Yorkshire Evening Post was on hand to capture the best of the action. READ MORE: 28 of the best photos take you back to Farsley and Calverley in the early 2000s LOVE LEEDS? LOVE NOSTALGIA?
