Amazon Wakefield team enjoys roar-some celebration at Yorkshire Wildlife Park
Employees from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Wakefield were joined by friends and family for the site’s annual summer get-together, held in recognition of the team’s efforts serving customers across the UK.
At the event, Amazon employees got to meet some of the park’s animals, had fun on fairground rides, and enjoyed a variety of food vendors, all set against the backdrop of one of the UK’s largest conservation parks. Yorkshire Wildlife Park is renowned for rescuing animals from across the globe and recently welcomed a brand-new colony of African penguins to its roster of residents - a highlight for many of the visiting families.

For Amazon employees, it was a chance to enjoy the sunshine, and to introduce the people they work alongside every day to the people who matter most outside of work.
Maisy Houchin works at Amazon in Wakefield and was among those enjoying the festivities.

She said: “It’s been great to visit the Wildlife Park and enjoy lots of fun activities with my colleagues. Bringing the family along made it feel even more special. Thank you, Amazon!”
Craig Fowler, Site Lead at Amazon in Wakefield, added: “Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and days like this are our way of saying thank you. Watching the team relax and celebrate with their families is one of the highlights of my year, and it’s a great way to get ready for the rest of what's already been a fantastic year.”

The event forms part of a wider programme of employee recognition across Amazon’s UK operations network, as the company marks the midpoint of the year and thanks teams for their continued dedication to customers.
