Evelyn moved to Springfield in July 2023 and enjoyed a family celebration with food and refreshments to mark the occasion. She also received a card from The King!

Born and raised in Bradford, Evelyn worked in burling and mending before marrying her husband, Percy, in 1940. When asked the secret to her long life, she credits “black tea and a nice salad”.

The Springfield care team helped make the day extra special, decorating the home and bringing everyone together to celebrate Evelyn’s milestone.

Vicki Hemsworth, Home Manager at Anchor’s Springfield care home, said: “It was a real privilege to celebrate Evelyn’s remarkable 105th birthday with her family and friends. She is a much-loved member of our Springfield community and has lived such an interesting life.

“Seeing all of her loved ones come together to mark this special milestone made for a truly memorable day, and we are delighted to have been part of her celebrations.”
