Ey Up - Stockeld Park calls on Yorkshire to break flat cap world record
This summer, Stockeld Park (Stockeld) is inviting families, friends and Yorkshire enthusiasts alike to celebrate all things local with the launch of The Great Yorkshire Summer, a season-long celebration of Yorkshire culture, traditions and community spirit.
At the heart of the celebrations is an ambitious world record attempt to gather the largest number of people wearing flat caps in one place. The attempt will take place on Yorkshire Day, Saturday 1st August, with a full weekend of themed activities running across both Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd August.

Visitors of all ages are encouraged to be part of a truly memorable moment, as Stockeld aims to bring together more than 600 flat cap-wearing guests and put Yorkshire firmly in the record books. The first 600 guests to book online for the 1st August will receive a free flat cap to enable them to take part in the event.
Across the weekend, guests can enjoy a packed programme of Yorkshire-themed entertainment and activities. From traditional favourites such as Welly Wanging to a range of family-friendly games and experiences, the event will celebrate Yorkshire’s rich heritage.
Food will also play a starring role, with visitors able to sample a special Yorkshire-inspired pizza created exclusively for the event.
Weekend activities will include:
· Yorkshire Tea relay
· Yorkshire pudding eating challenge
· Yorkshire pudding pizza
· Welly Wanging
· A Yorkshire-themed pub quiz
· Flat cap frisbee
· Yorkshire pudding throwing
Peter Grant, Owner and Chief Fun Officer at Stockeld Park, said: “We couldn’t have a Yorkshire Summer without a flat cap or two. Yorkshire has such a strong sense of identity and community, and The Great Yorkshire Summer is our way of celebrating that with visitors of all ages.
"We’re especially excited about the record attempt. It’s a fun, light-hearted moment that we hope will bring lots of people together and put a spotlight on Yorkshire Day in a really special way.”
The Great Yorkshire Summer will continue throughout the holiday period, offering visitors even more reasons to return, with themed activities, tribute acts, outdoor adventures and plenty of opportunities to make lasting memories in the heart of the Yorkshire countryside.
Whether a proud Yorkshire local or simply looking for a fun-filled day out, Stockeld Park promises a warm welcome, with flat caps optional but highly encouraged.
Stockeld Park has also announced it will support families this summer by honouring the government’s temporary VAT reduction across the holiday period, maintaining reduced pricing until 6th September to reflect extended school holidays in some areas.
A new children’s menu will also be introduced, helping families make the most of their visit.
