Hearing dogs campaign comes to Leeds
Residents of Leeds will be among the first to spot a heart-warming new advertising campaign from charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People this month, supported by the JCDecaux Community Channel, as striking images of life-changing hearing dogs pop up on digital screens across the UK throughout May.
Timed to coincide with Deaf Awareness Week, and running for four weeks, the advertisement can be seen in 10 locations across the city, including Kirkstall Road, Victoria Road and Eastgate, opposite the John Lewis car park.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of the vital role the charity plays in helping to transform the lives of people who are deaf or have hearing loss.
At the centre of the campaign is an eye-catching image of a puppy with its head tilted and one ear cocked, alongside the caption, ‘I’m ear for you’.
The simple, but powerful message builds on the familiar phrase ‘I’m here for you’, reflecting the unique role hearing dogs play - not just as practical support, but as constant companions.
The campaign shows how hearing dogs provide connection, companionship and confidence, helping people who are deaf or have hearing loss feel safe, included and empowered in everyday life.
It also helps make hearing loss more visible. One in three adults in the UK are deaf, have hearing loss, or tinnitus, and the campaign encourages greater understanding and awareness of hearing dogs and the people they support.
David Robson, a spokesperson for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, said: “This campaign, supported by the JCDecaux Community Channel gives us a brilliant opportunity to reach new audiences in Leeds.
“Every hearing dog we train has the power to transform someone’s life – bringing not only practical support by alerting to important and often life-saving sounds, but also by helping build confidence, companionship and acting as a bridge between the deaf person and the world around them.
“We hope that the campaign will not only increase visibility of the charity, but also inspire more people in Leeds to get involved in our work, whether that’s by volunteering as a puppy trainer or a fundraiser, or by simply spreading the word.”
The JCDecaux Community Channel is a social impact initiative by JCDecaux UK that provides non-profit, charity, and community organisations access to digital Out-of-Home advertising nationwide.
Chris Dooley, Head of Sustainable Media at JCDecaux UK, said: “We are proud to support Hearing Dogs for Deaf People through the JCDecaux Community Channel to help bring the ‘I’m ear for you’ campaign to audiences across the UK.
“By using the power of our public screens, we hope to raise awareness of the incredible role hearing dogs play in providing connection, companionship and confidence for people who are deaf or have hearing loss, and to encourage more people to find out how they can get involved.”
Residents of Leeds are encouraged to keep an eye out for the campaign throughout May. Anyone who would like to find out more about the charity’s work can visit www.hearingdogs.org.uk
