Ilkley primary school donation to have lasting impact

Burley Oaks Primary School, in Ilkley, received a £3,000 donation from Persimmon Homes after applying to the housebuilder’s Community Champions scheme.

The school say the donation will go towards improving its play provision for the children to learn from.

Headteacher Emma Learnmonth said: “We are incredibly grateful to Persimmon Homes for their generous £3,000 donation to Burley Oaks Primary School.

“This funding will allow us to enhance our play provision by investing in loose parts play resources, building materials, such as crates, and new obstacle and challenge-based activities for our playground.

“Play is a vital part of children's learning, development and wellbeing. Through play, children build confidence, develop social skills, learn to solve problems and foster positive relationships with others.

“This donation will help us create even more purposeful, inclusive and engaging play opportunities for all of our pupils, ensuring that every child can enjoy rich and meaningful experiences during their playtimes.

“On behalf of our children, staff and wider school community, I would like to thank Persimmon Homes for their support. Their generosity will have a lasting impact on the daily experiences and wellbeing of our pupils for years to come.”

Persimmon Homes Deputy Regional Chair Christopher Hull said: “We are delighted to support Burley Oaks and their investment into play resources.
