Kind-hearted Wakefield staff name children’s hospice as chosen charity
A children’s hospice has been named as the chosen charity for 2026 by the team at Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, with fundraising already underway.
A ballot is held every year for the housebuilder’s regional staff, who have their head office in Wakefield, to decide which charity they would like to support. This year, Martin House Children’s Hospice came out on top.

The hospice, based in Boston Spa, provides free care for children and young people with life-shortening conditions as well as support for their families.
Fundraising by Taylor Wimpey has already begun with an office sweepstake taking place for this year’s upcoming Winter Olympics.
Lisa Waugh, Managing Director at Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, said: “Every year, everyone at our regional headquarters gets behind our fundraising efforts and shows real dedication to supporting our chosen charity through fundraising activities throughout the year”
Hannah Finan, partnerships manager at Martin House Children’s Hospice said: “We are delighted to have been named as the chosen charity for 2026 and that the staff at Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire recognise the vital support we provide for children and their families.”
Last year, Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire raised more than £13,000 for Leeds-based St George’s Crypt to support its work transforming lives through its Pathway service to break the cycle of homelessness and dependency.
Fundraising included staff members joining the Leeds Big Sleep, while others took part in a Tour de France-inspired cyclathon. Other activities included bake sales, tuck shops, and food days where people donated cash to enjoy various foods. Around £9,000 also came from subcontractor sponsorship.
Lisa Waugh, Managing Director at Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, said: “We are really proud of everyone at our regional office for the work and dedication they show in raising money.”
