Leeds Male Voice Choir Set for Major East Yorkshire Summer Concert

Leeds Male Voice Choir will take its 70‑voice ensemble to East Yorkshire next month as the group continues a series of high‑profile performances across the North of England.

The choir will appear at St Mary’s Church, Cottingham, on Saturday 4 July at 7.30pm, bringing its summer programme to audiences outside West Yorkshire as part of a touring schedule that has seen the ensemble perform in some of the region’s most significant historic venues.

In recent seasons, the choir has appeared at Carlisle Cathedral, Lancaster Priory, Selby Abbey, Doncaster Minster, Bridlington Priory, and Berwick‑upon‑Tweed’s parish church — a run of large‑scale concerts that has helped cement its reputation as one of the North of England's most active and ambitious male voice choirs.

The group is known for its warm, blended sound, multi‑generational membership and contemporary approach to the male voice tradition.

The Cottingham performance is the choir’s only East Yorkshire date this year, and one of the few occasions when the choir will appear together outside Leeds and the wider West Yorkshire region.

Several members of the choir have personal ties to the East Riding. Dan Taylor said: “This concert will be extra special because my wife grew up in Cottingham and we got married in St Mary’s back in 1990.”

Mark Baylis added: “It’s great to be returning to the East Riding, having lived in Anlaby as a teenager. I’m really looking forward to meeting up with friends and family for what promises to be a great evening of entertainment.”

Choir spokesperson Robert Butler said: “We perform regularly across Leeds and West Yorkshire, but taking all seventy singers to a venue is always a special moment.

“After recent appearances in some of the North’s most iconic churches and abbeys, this will be our first performance in Cottingham and a real occasion for the choir.”
