Leeds super-mums win Hyrox London and qualify for European and World Championships
Two extraordinary women from Leeds have achieved a remarkable victory on one of the world’s biggest fitness stages.
Ange, from Guiseley, and Mel, from Baildon, have been crowned Hyrox London Women’s Doubles Champions at the largest Hyrox event ever held.

Hyrox — the booming global fitness discipline combining running with functional strength challenges such as sled pushes — is known for pushing even elite athletes to their limits.
Last weekend’s Hyrox London event welcomed an astonishing 40,000 competitors from around the world, making it the biggest Hyrox competition in the sport’s history.

A spokesperson said: "Against hundreds of highly trained international teams, Mel and Ange’s performance stood out.
"Their win is not just a triumph of athletic excellence but a story of exceptional commitment and discipline.
"Both women are mothers of three young children and work full-time jobs.
"Their training schedule is nothing short of heroic: waking at 4am most days to complete gruelling workouts before returning home for breakfast, school runs, and work.
"After months of dedication, early starts, and disciplined preparation, the pair arrived in London in peak physical condition — and their hard work paid off in emphatic fashion."
Their victory now earns them places at the European Championships in London and the World Championships in Sweden, where they will represent West Yorkshire on the international stage.
Their coaches and supporters describe them as “local legends” — athletes who have proven that with determination, drive, and a fierce work ethic, extraordinary goals can be achieved.
West Yorkshire can be proud: two of its own have risen to the top of one of the world’s fastest-growing and most demanding sports.
