A Leeds Taekwondo group is celebrating two of its members gaining silver medals at a high ranking event.
Samuel Berry and Zayna Farooqui won silver at the 7th Range International Online Poomsae Championships, to the joy of 7th Dan Taekwondo Master Kambiz R Ali MBE and his KR Ali Taekwondo Academy Leeds branch.
This prestigious International Martial Arts Championship was organised by KR Ali Taekwondo Academy, an established Taekwondo Academy based in Harrogate which also has a branch operating in Leeds at the Ramgarhia Sports Centre, on Chapeltown Road.
The event attracted around 140 competitors from 20 countries, bringing together athletes from across the world to compete under World Taekwondo rules before an experienced panel of international referees.
Berry and Farooqui, demonstrated excellent technique, determination and commitment, while performing at the event and each earning a well-deserved Silver Medal facing off against strong international opposition.
Master Kambiz Ramzan Ali MBE, Founder and Chief Instructor of KR Ali Taekwondo Academy, said: “I am extremely proud of our students, Samuel and Zayna for their outstanding performances.
"Winning medals at an international championship is a fantastic achievement and reflects the hard work, dedication and commitment they have shown in training.
"Our Harrogate and Leeds branches work closely together, allowing students to train across both locations, support one another and benefit from additional training opportunities.
"This approach helps students continue developing their skills while becoming part of one family within the same academy.”
He explained that KR Ali Taekwondo Academy provides professional instruction in Olympic-style Taekwondo for children, teenagers and adults, with classes focusing on confidence, respect, discipline, fitness, self-defence and competition.
The academy continues to provide students with opportunities to compete at regional, national and international events, helping them gain valuable experience and represent their local communities with pride and in a welcoming family orientated setting.
