Leeds wedding venue offers couples a chapel blessing

Leeds Bradford Airport Hotel sits adjacent to the historic Bramhope Puritan chapel, where couples can receive a unique blessing on their big day.

Couples who celebrate their wedding day at Leeds Bradford Airport Hotel can incorporate elements of history into their ceremony, thanks to the historic Puritan chapel located just across the road.

Built in 1649 by local landowner Robert Dyneley, the Bramhope Puritan Chapel is a rare Grade I listed survivor of the Commonwealth period. It is unique for being one of the few churches in England specifically designed for Puritan worship.

The chapel remained an active place of worship until 1881, when the nearby St Giles Church opened.

Following a restoration project, it is now owned and maintained by the Bramhope & Carlton Parish Council, which bought the building for just £1 back in the 1970s. Visitors can still see original features like the box pews and a unique stone altar.

In conjunction with the Parish Council, couples can use the chapel for blessings following a civil marriage ceremony at the Leeds Bradford Airport Hotel.

The hotel, owned by Britannia Hotels, features two licensed suites that are perfectly suited for a variety of wedding festivities.

Both spaces - the Bramhope Suite and Yoredale Suite - boast modern facilities and a range of amenities.

James Whitaker, General Manager at the Leeds Bradford Airport Hotel, commented: “At Leeds Bradford Airport Hotel, we take immense pride in our wedding offering.

"Our couples especially value the thoughtful inclusion of the historic blessing element, which adds a meaningful touch to their celebrations.
