Sir Kev pledges more to come on MND Awareness Day

Sir Kevin Sinfield is marking this global MND Awareness Day by launching a new business to boost his multi-million-pound fundraising drive to help find a cure.

Six people are diagnosed with MND each day in the UK, and more than half of those diagnosed will die within two years.

The newly knighted Leeds Rhinos rugby legend has already raised more than £11 million for MND charities, and will once again pull on his trainers to run seven ultra-marathons in seven days starting in late September.

To help bring people together while raising vital funds, Sir Kevin has founded a secure platform called Legacy Locker.

“Motor Neurone Disease has touched my life in ways I could never have imagined.

"Through my friendship with Rob Burrow, I’ve seen first-hand the extraordinary courage shown by people living with MND and their families, as well as the incredible work carried out by the MND Association,” he said.

“Legacy Locker was created to help people organise what matters most and make life easier for the people they care about.

"The opportunity to support the MND Association through Legacy Locker is something I’m incredibly proud of. Every subscription has the potential to make a difference, helping fund vital support and research while giving families greater peace of mind.”

In the meantime, training for his latest challenge will continue. For the event, dubbed ‘The Grand Finale,’ the 45-year-old and his team will run from Hull to Manchester, covering at least 45 km per day and visiting all 12 Super League home grounds along the way.
