Stockeld Park launches community-designed attractions inspired by children’s imaginations

From talking trees to towering ogres, much of the magic visitors experience at Stockeld Park has been dreamt up by children, schools and families, and brought to life by the park’s passionate creative team.

Yorkshire’s award-winning family attraction, near Wetherby, is celebrating the creative input of children, schools and guests, after revealing that many of its most loved characters and installations began life as competition entries and imaginative ideas from local families.

The most recent addition arrived just weeks ago, following Stockeld Park’s 2025 ‘Design your own giant egg’ competition, which was created to be part of the 2026 Easter trail.

Young visitors were invited to create their own forest egg, with the winning design brought to life as a giant feature within the Enchanted Forest for Easter 2026.

The competition received around 100 entries, ranging from colourful animals to playful character designs, including everything from pandas to King Charles III.

The winning artwork was created by five‑year‑old Charlie, whose design was transformed into one of the giant forest eggs featured on this year’s Easter trail.

While the Easter egg is a seasonal feature, it joins several permanent attractions across the park that also began as ideas from local children and visitors.

These include Russell the Talking Tree, Igor the Ogre, The Singing Ringing Tree, the Book of Books, the globe at the centre of the Magical Maze, and the Loch Ness Monster swing - all now well-known characters within Stockeld’s Enchanted Forest.

By inviting families and schools to contribute ideas over the years, Stockeld Park has helped bring children’s imaginations to life, giving young visitors the rare opportunity to see their creativity transformed into real, immersive features enjoyed by thousands of families each year.

Peter Grant, owner and Chief Fun Officer at Stockeld Park, said: “So much of what makes Stockeld special starts with imagination, and some of our best‑loved characters have come directly from the ideas of children who visit the park.

"Seeing those ideas come to life - whether for a season or as a permanent part of the Enchanted Forest - creates a real sense of connection between the park and its community.”

Stockeld Park is open throughout the year, with seasonal events running alongside its permanent attractions, including the Enchanted Forest, Magical Maze and the award‑winning Playhive.
