With walking proven to have many physical and mental wellbeing benefits, David Wilson Homes has curated a list of recommended walking spots in and around its Imperial Court, Centurion Meadows and Castle Syke Grange developments.

West Yorkshire countryside

Centurion Meadows, Imperial Court and Castle Syke Grange are all surrounded by a range of public footpaths and walking routes that lead directly into the wider West Yorkshire countryside. From riverside paths along the River Wharfe to historic trails crossing farmland near Pontefract, these routes provide easy access to open green space beyond each community.

Ilkley Moor and Cow and Calf Rocks

A popular local walk for residents at Imperial Court and Centurion Meadows is Ilkley Moor and the Cow and Calf Rocks, renowned for their far‑reaching views across the valley. The nearby Cow and Calf Inn, located beside the rocks, offers a welcoming place to stop for refreshments and enjoy the scenery.

Pontefract Park

Just a short distance from Castle Syke Grange is Pontefract Park, providing a large, accessible green space ideal for everyday outdoor activity. Home to a historic racecourse, the park offers well‑used routes for walking, running and cycling.

Pontefract Park North is the nature reserve within the park, featuring a diverse landscape of grassland, woodland, wetland, lakes and areas of open water.

Doorstep tranquillity

Residents won’t need to travel far to enjoy the outdoors, as Centurion Meadows, Imperial Court and Castle Syke Grange will feature green open spaces. Thousands of newly planted trees create natural walking routes throughout the growing communities.
