West Yorkshire housebuilder kicks off support for local rugby club
Established in the 19th Century, the club is home to men’s, women’s and junior teams. Training typically takes place at the club every night during the winter, and each team plays games at the weekend.
In response to growing participation levels, Pontefract RUFC is installing new floodlights to help accommodate its increasing number of teams and training sessions throughout the week.
Richard Fletcher, Committee Member at Pontefract RUFC, said: “We are pleased that Barratt and David Wilson Homes has agreed to sponsor our club. It is fantastic to see the housebuilder investing in the Pontefract community and supporting grassroots sport.
“This sponsorship will contribute to the running of our new floodlights, making a huge difference to all of our teams.
"The rugby club is a community hub used by many local families, and we are committed to providing the best possible facilities for everyone who visits. We'd like to thank everyone at Barratt and David Wilson Homes for their support."
The sponsorship reflects the housebuilder's ongoing investment in the area, where Barratt Homes is building at De Lacy Mews and Sandy Gate View, alongside David Wilson Homes' Castle Syke Grange development in Pontefract.
Gavin Birch, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, said: “We are thrilled to support Pontefract RUFC, a club that plays such an important role in the local community.
"Grassroots sports clubs bring people together and provide opportunities for people of all ages to stay active, develop new skills and build lasting friendships. We wish all of the club's teams every success for the upcoming season."
