Motorpoint Leeds launches £22,000 kit and equipment fund for youth sports teams

To celebrate the launch of its massive new Whitehall Road showroom, the retailer is offering 22 local under-16 teams a £1,000 cash boost

A major used car retailer is offering a massive £22,000 financial boost to grassroots youth sports groups across Leeds to celebrate the opening of its newest flagship store.

Motorpoint is seeking to sponsor 22 local under-16 sports teams ahead of the upcoming 2026/27 season.

The retailer will be serving up £1,000 to each successful club, with the funds earmarked to help hard-pressed community teams cover the rising costs of brand-new kits, essential training equipment, and tournament competition fees.

The community initiative marks the grand opening of Motorpoint’s 22nd UK store on Whitehall Road on July 10. Located just a mile from the city centre near Elland Road, the sprawling new site will feature a pitch stocked with almost 300 vehicles.

Dan Stevens, General Sales Manager at Motorpoint Leeds, said: “When it came to opening our new Leeds store, we wanted to find a really special way to celebrate.

"We know how important access to sports is for young people, and that’s why we’re so happy to be able to mark the opening of our 22nd store by sponsoring 22 youth sports teams across the city.”

The cash boost is open to all variations of under-16s sports teams operating in and around the Leeds area.

Whether it is football, rugby, netball, or athletics, the only key requirements are that applications must be made on behalf of an individual, specific team, and Motorpoint must become the club's main kit sponsor for the season.

How to apply for the £1,000 sponsorship

Applications are now open to parents, coaches, and young players themselves, but squads will need to act fast, as the window closes on July 3.

Local teams can register their interest and view the full terms by filling out the online application form on the company’s official website.
