The Light to host noughties 25th birthday party in Leeds featuring BBC Radio 1’s Mylo & Rosie

Leeds leisure and dining hub The Light is throwing a free noughties-themed party this Saturday (October 3) to mark a major quarter-century milestone.

Taking place from 12pm to 6pm, the celebration will transform the venue into a nostalgia trip back to 2001 - the year the city centre destination first opened its doors.

Headlining the afternoon’s entertainment are BBC Radio 1 favourites Mylo & Rosie, who will perform a live set packed with feel-good noughties anthems and 2001 throwback tracks.

Throughout the afternoon, visitors can grab free slices of birthday cake, take home complimentary photograph keyrings, and grab drinks from a pop-up bar hosted by Radisson Blu.

Walkabout performers, character acts, and themed selfie spots will also take over the concourse.

Several prize competitions will run across the day, including grabber games and spin-the-wheel contests.

Participating venue Haute Dolci is offering one visitor the chance to win 'Dessert for a Year' - granting a free monthly dessert for 12 months - while the venue’s website is hosting a 'Win a Weekend at The Light' prize package worth over £2,500.

Reflecting on the milestone, Brian Oakley, General Manager at The Light, said: "Turning 25 is a huge milestone for The Light and we wanted to celebrate it in a way that brings people together and reflects everything people love about the destination today.

"Our birthday event will take visitors back to 2001, the year The Light first opened, with great music, offers, giveaways and activities from across the destination. It's a chance to celebrate not only our own history, but also the people, brands and community that have been part of The Light's story over the last 25 years."
