Everyone is judging your next move, and there’s a high chance you’ll end up exactly where you started.
We asked you on the Yorkshire Evening Post Facebook page where the most romantic spots in the city are, and the results were a perfect Leeds cocktail of genuine class and world-class banter.
For every person who suggested a candlelit Parisian bistro or a hidden jazz club, there was someone else ready to suggest a karaoke session at the Three Legs or a romantic stroll through a Beeston quarry.
But it’s a testament to the city’s character that we can’t even talk about true love without someone mentioning a £10 supermarket meal deal or the strategic benefits of a Wetherspoons exit plan.
However, amongst the jokes and the ‘my gaff’ invitations (we’re washing our hair, sadly), a clear picture emerged of what a Leeds date night actually looks like.
Whether you’re after the wow factor of a malachite floor and cherry blossoms or the quiet intimacy of a wine-and-cheese board in the Corn Exchange, the city has a habit of providing the goods, provided you managed to book your table well in advance.

1. The Domino Club
Tucked away behind the back door of a barbershop in the Grand Arcade, this hidden jazz bar is arguably the coolest spot in the city. Our readers rate it for its dark, moody, and intimate atmosphere that feels like a 1920s speakeasy. It is the perfect choice for a date who loves live music and a sophisticated cocktail. ❤️ Grand Arcade, Leeds LS1 6PG | James Hardisty
2. Kendell's Bistro
Mentioned by Claire Morley, Kendell's is widely considered the gold standard for romance in Leeds. This French bistro trades the 'M&S' polish for flickering candles, open kitchen theatre, and a proper Parisian vibe. It is the closest you will get to a date in France without leaving the city. ❤️ 3 St Peter's Square, Leeds LS9 8AH | Kendell's Bistro

3. The Cheesy Living Co.
A brilliant shout from Jake Fischer, this spot in the iconic Corn Exchange is perfect for a more relaxed, no-pressure Valentine's date. If your idea of romance is sharing a high-quality charcuterie board and a great bottle of wine in a stunning architectural setting, this is the place to be. ❤️ Corn Exchange, Call Ln, Leeds LS1 7BR | Simon Hulme

4. Browns
A Leeds classic that was highlighted by Ella-may James for its lovely atmosphere. Housed in a beautiful old building on Park Row, it offers a sense of big night out grandeur. With its high ceilings and polished brass, it is a reliable choice for a high-end three-course meal. ❤️ 70-72 Park Row, Leeds LS1 5JL | Google Street View

5. The Cut & Craft
For those who want to go all out, The Cut & Craft in the Victoria Quarter is a top contender. It is considered romantic for its opulent décor and its specialised 'Lover’s Menu,' which often includes premium steaks and thoughtful touches like roses for the table to help set the mood. ❤️ 23 King Edward St, Leeds LS1 6AX | The Cut and Craft

6. The Deer Park
For a romantic retreat outside the city centre, many locals head to this Roundhay favourite. It is considered romantic for its cosy country pub warmth and a specialised Valentine’s menu that focuses on indulgent sharing dishes, making it a great spot for a quieter, suburban date night. ❤️ 688 Street Ln, Roundhay, Leeds LS8 2DQ | Henry Eccles, Google
