Leeds has earned its reputation as an undisputed food capital of the North, but as any local diner will tell you, the appetite for new flavours is never quite satisfied.
Following the responses on the Yorkshire Evening Post Facebook page, it is clear that while our city is packed with talent, there are still a few glaring omissions in our culinary landscape.
While there were some calls for more Wetherspoons, we were surprised also that one US fast-food chain was namechecked over In-N-Out Burger, demonstrating that some locals know their international fast food scene.
From cult American imports to much-missed British classics, these are the 11 names that the people of Leeds are most eager to see opening their doors.

1. Dishoom
Few restaurant openings in the North have generated as much hype as the arrival of this Irani-style café in Manchester, and reader Klare Hunt believes it is high time Leeds had its own. Known for its legendary bacon naan rolls and a black daal that is simmered for over 24 hours. | Dishoom

2. Wimpy
The demand for a Wimpy comeback is driven by a powerful wave of nostalgia. Readers, including Jamie Richardson, Brian Smith, and Louise Keeligan Swailes all voiced their desire for the return of the classic British chain. Unlike modern fast-food giants, Wimpy is remembered fondly for its table service, real plates, and the iconic Bender burger. | Sheffield Newspapers Ltd

3. Toby Carvery
While there are plenty of places to find a roast dinner in the suburbs, reader Paul Bradley pointed out a specific gap in the market: a Toby Carvery in the heart of the city centre. The appeal is simple - unlimited roast potatoes and gravy at a price point that makes family dining accessible, situated right where the Saturday afternoon shoppers can reach it. | Local Library

4. Cosmos
The all-you-can-eat global buffet remains a firm family favourite for its ability to settle any argument about what to have for dinner. Reader Joanne Meakin is among those hoping for a Cosmos to arrive in the city, offering a sprawling selection of international cuisines ranging from teppanyaki and pizza to traditional Sunday roasts all under one roof. | Cosmos

5. Tripadvisor
Artisan pizza that is ready in minutes is the hook for MOD, a brand that reader Natasha Langley would love to see join the Leeds food scene. The appeal lies in the customisation, allowing diners to build their own pizza with as many toppings as they like for one fixed price, filling a fast-casual niche that bridges the gap between takeaway and formal dining. | MOD

6. Sonic
The arrival of Sonic would represent a true slice of Americana. As one of the most famous drive-in chains in the United States, its appeal lies in the unique service style where "carhops" deliver food directly to your window. For Leeds residents like Michelle McCarthy, the draw is the menu of classic shakes, coneys, and tots that offer a different experience to the standard UK burger chains. | Tripadvisor
