The summer months are traditionally an incredibly busy time for animal shelters across West Yorkshire, and the team at GoodLife Dog Rescue are working tirelessly to find matching sofas for the influx of unwanted, abandoned, and bereaved strays in their care.
The charity prides itself on fighting for the underdogs - frequently stepping in to rescue bull breeds, senior pairs, and large crossbreeds from local council pounds just hours before they face being put to sleep.
From inseparable mother-and-son duos to playful young puppies with mountains of love to give, the kennels are currently full of vibrant characters who deserve a second chance at a happy life.
We have rounded up 17 beautiful dogs currently waiting for a breakthrough at GoodLife, across 14 separate listings.
If you have the time, patience, and space for a rescue hound, take a look through the gallery below to see if you could offer one of these deserving souls their perfect summer forever home.

1. Winston & Lily (10 & 12)
This incredibly loving Shih Tzu cross mother-and-son duo arrived as an emergency case after their owner became seriously ill. While Winston can be initially nervous around new faces, he quickly transforms into a sweet knee-climber, while his slightly deaf mum Lily absolutely loves to potter and sniff in the grass. | GoodLife Dog Rescue

2. Morris (10 months)
This gorgeous Staffy cross is a friendly, playful puppy who absolutely adores human contact. He already knows his basic commands but will need a committed owner with plenty of time for training, plenty of company, and an active home with older children or potentially a friendly spayed female dog. | GoodLife Dog Rescue

3. Queenie (4 years)
This gorgeous, affectionate Lurcher arrived as a stray and has won the hearts of everyone at the rescue with her fun-loving nature and absolute love for cuddles. She desperately needs a quiet foster or forever home to recover in so she can finally undergo surgery to remove an infected salivary gland, which the charity will fully fund. | GoodLife Dog Rescue

4. Isla & Rolo (11 & 13)
Arriving as an emergency case following the sad death of their owner, this comical and clean senior duo have spent five long months waiting for a breakthrough. They are currently thriving in a temporary foster home where they love snoozing in the garden and relaxing on the sofa, and they now desperately need a permanent, pet-free retirement home in Yorkshire where they can stay together. | GoodLife Dog Rescue

5. Blaze (8 years)
Left waiting in isolated stray kennels for 19 long months, this affectionate and loyal German Shepherd never receives any adoption interest. He absolutely craves human company, is a perfect gentleman with vets, and loves chasing balls, but he suffers from some mild shoulder arthritis and is reactive toward other dogs. | GoodLife Dog Rescue

6. Pepper (3 years)
This gorgeous fawn Frenchie arrived from the stray kennels and is a sweet-natured, affectionate soul who craves human company above all else. She has likely been used for breeding in the past, but she is now ready to be the centre of someone's world and needs an attentive home with older children, where she won't be left alone for long periods. | GoodLife Dog Rescue
