There is nothing quite like the love, loyalty, and companionship of a rescue dog - and right now, the kennels at Dogs Trust Leeds are filled with wonderful residents desperately searching for a second chance at happiness.
Whether you are looking for a gentle, slow-paced companion to share the sofa with, a clever training partner eager to learn new tricks, or even a ready-made double act of bonded best friends, the Leeds rehoming centre in West Yorkshire has a furry match for a wide variety of households.
This month, the dedicated team at the centre is highlighting 18 listings featuring 19 incredible dogs who have found themselves in rescue through no fault of their own.
Some are currently thriving in local foster homes, while others are patiently waiting in their kennels for that special connection.
Could you offer the perfect environment for one of these beautiful pups to flourish?

1. Zuko (Jack Russell Terrier, 14 years old)
Despite his twilight years, Zuko remains incredibly playful and affectionate, and he is super friendly with everyone he meets. He is looking for a quiet, adults-only home where he can relax without unpredictable noise. Zuko has a well-controlled heart murmur (which the Dogs Trust vet will gladly discuss), and while he's happy meeting dogs out and about, he wants to be the only pet in the home. | Dogs Trust Leeds

2. Barney (Beagle, 13 years old)
Barney is super friendly, absolutely loves getting plenty of fuss from everyone he meets, and still has tons of life and love to give. Because of his twilight years, he needs a quiet, adult-only home away from noisy or unpredictable children. He has a couple of manageable, age-related medical conditions that the Dogs Trust vet will gladly discuss in detail. | Dogs Trust Leeds

3. Kenny (Staffy Cross, 1 year old)
Kenny currently requires surgery for a luxating patella, but he desperately needs a peaceful home to recover in rather than a kennel environment. Due to his medical and rehabilitation needs, Kenny must be the only pet in the house. While younger children will be too overwhelming right now, older kids who understand when to let him rest will be a great fit. | Dogs Trust Leeds

4. Nuche (Lurcher, 2 years old)
While initially a little shy, once Nuche gets to know you, he is exceptionally affectionate, loves to snuggle, and is incredibly playful with his toys. He is already house-trained, highly food-motivated, and knows several useful cues. In true Lurcher style, he has a strong natural chase instinct, so he needs outdoor adventures in peaceful areas away from livestock. | Dogs Trust Leeds

5. Bobbie and Connie (Shih Tzu, 8 years old)
Sweet-natured and absolutely no trouble at all, Bobbie and Connie love to lead a relaxed life and will need a secure garden for a gentle daily potter. While they can be quite independent initially, once they get to know you properly, they will happily hop up onto your knee for a good snuggle. They are perfectly fine around other dogs out on walks but want to keep their home strictly to themselves. | Dogs Trust Leeds

6. Gizmo (French Bulldog, 4 years old)
Gizmo is incredibly affectionate but can worry when left alone, so he is looking for a home where people are around most of the time to help him settle in. He is already fully house-trained, travels brilliantly in the car, and loves going on two walks a day—as long as the weather isn't too hot! He has a couple of medical needs, including hip dysplasia and sore skin, which the team will gladly discuss. | Dogs Trust Leeds
