Best Vegan places to eat in Yorkshire: From a plant-based diner to Indian streetfood, vegan pub grub and one of the best chain for vegans
Veganuary is once again upon us, and many people are turning vegan or seeking plant-based options as much as possible.
Here are some of the best places we’ve tried and tested that we recommend:

Big Scoffs Diner
A new sister venue to Little Scoffs, the plant-based cafe in Horsforth, Leeds, opened this year.
This is a great place if you’re searching for vegan versions of traditional pub grub such as fish and chips, Sunday dinner, and gammon, egg, and chips. Instead, they use locally sourced seitan and tofu to create meat alternatives such as a Beyond Meat Pattie. They’re also great for gluten-free options.

Hong Kong Vegan, Wakefield
There’s a range of Chinese restaurants and takeaways that are vegan-friendly, but one that is solely vegan is Hong Kong Vegan in Leeds.
From mock crispy duck and pancakes to mock chicken and fish dishes, these have got you sorted.
Do be mindful of any intolerances, too, especially gluten, when it comes to ordering plant-based “meat” alternatives. As ever, always share any allergies you have with places before or ordering if possible.
Prashad, Tingley
A long-standing favourite among vegans and vegetarians is Prashad Indian Restaurant in Drighlington, West Yorkshire. Prashad is a fine-dining Gujarati restaurant.
Mayur Patel, who grew up in Prashad, which his parents started, now runs Bundobust, a more casual beer and Indian street food bar.
Both places are ideal for vegans and vegetarians.

Kerala Canteen, Leeds
Down the road, also in Leeds city centre, is Kerala Canteen, which is mostly vegan and vegetarian-friendly.
It’s a South Indian tapas restaurant founded by MasterChef Bobby Geetha.

Corarima, Wakefield
This Wakefield restaurant is ranked as one of the best in the district, and it’s completely vegan and gluten-free.
They serve a range of Abyssinian dishes, including pulses, salads and injera, which is a gluten-free flatbread.

Kyoyu Sushi & BBQ, Sheffield
This modern Asian and Korean BBQ restaurant is hidden at the top of Cambridge Street Collective Food Hall. While it can be a meaty affair, they have an extensive vegetarian and vegan menu, including vegan platters to go on the BBQ.

Falco Lounge, Barnsley, and Pescado Lounge, Whitby (The Lounge Group)
These stylish neighbourhood cafes are part of The Lounge Group, serving all day breakfast, brunch, and lunch, which include a full vegan menu. Dishes such as shakshuka and vegan breakfasts are a must.

Trinity Market, Hull
There’s a range of street food vendors to choose from, such as Falafia, which is solely vegan and vegetarian.
The historic market hall also hosts monthly vegan fairs.
Wagamamas, Yorkshire
Wagamamas has locations across Yorkshire with a full vegan menu. They also have vegan options and plenty to choose from for kids and those for people with gluten intolerances.
